Until 1975, the Sandricourt wild grey partridge drives were famous, with recorded bags ranging from 500 to 1000 birds per day and up to 5,500 birds per year. However, since then, the grey partridge population has experienced a significant decline due to changes in farming practices, the use of insecticides, and a decrease in habitat quality. In 2017, the owner of Sandricourt made the decision to launch a grey partridge reintroduction program from scratch.
Over the past five years, we have dedicated 1,500 acres to this grey partridge reintroduction initiative. To achieve this, we have created game crop strips within our farming fields, planted hedges, modified our farming practices, installed feeders and drinkers, and implemented pest control measures. Thanks to these extensive efforts, we can once again enjoy the presence of these rare and beautiful birds for shooting.
